Cleaning the Pivot on an EDC

perhaps synthesizing the jaw oil could be a new mouse trap...

When I couldn't find porpoise jaw oil anymore, I started melting dolphin ear wax and mixing it 1:1:1 with Mobil 1 5W30 and Ford automatic transmission fluid.

I don't make this offer too often, but I happen to have some oil from one of the last unicorns in existence. I'm not a Gold member, so I can't tell you how much I'd sell it for. It smells a little gamey, but any knife you apply it to will open faster than an auto. It also creates a rainbow.

You guys are cracking me up. There are synthetic oils that have as much if not more resistance to oxidation than porpoise jaw oil, but I am not sure that they are food safe. The more viscous lubricants, such as light grease, impair the flipablity of my knives. The less viscous lubes wash away when I rinse the fish guts out of the works. The only knives I lube have Carbon steel blades and do not come apart. So I will continue the use of my “fast”, “dry” flippers. Thanks for all the advice.

Just realized OP could be joking... if so, I am laughing, if not, well I am still laughing, but I see that I have homework to do. Were you a merchant marine?
Jewelers were users of porpoise jaw oil for for watch mechanisms before synthetic oil replaced it.

There is still the story of discovering the utility of the animals jaw oil. Wow!

... The older I get the faster I was, and the little I know, grows infinitesimally small in light of what I don't know. And what I don't know is ok, through my friend faith, which keeps me humble enough to ask questions. Then I know a tiny bit more, until I know even as I am known, and old, as entropy, is eternally an irrelevant construct.
