I've seen the Metro.

I just bot a clear blue Flick-it Bucklite, NOS (item # 200514427384, for your amusement).

Did Buck ever make, proto sample or production, clear-handled larger knives, such as the 110? Pics would be terrific, thx.

The 110-sized Bucklite 486 and the Ecolite would make great frames for clear scales. This is something I would like to see. Until then I will keep dreaming.

Hi O,

Take a look at post #27 in this link. LB has a very nice photo of what you are asking about.

Bless you JB. May you live for a thousand years. Exactly what I was looking for. Exactly. You are all right. THX.

I was thinking that the regular 110, with bolsters and liners, wouldn't lend itself to clear scales. However, that example has no bolsters and no liners. Perfect. My new screen saver.

I would love several user examples of that very knife. Practical? Depends on the scale material and the uses I suppose.

Man o man. That grabs me. Really. Yes it does.

Can Leroy do that? Did Leroy do that?

You bet Master bladesmith Leroy can do that, in a heartbeat! Drop him a line at RRR knives:thumbup:

OK, Okay.

Just pinged Leroy, with a link to the above cited pics of the clear 110, and will report the feasibility of: 1. looker and 2. user in clear material.

Anyone else interested? Everyone else already have one? Or, am I off on a tangent? A knife wearing the "Kings clothes..." Seems perfect to me, aside from the possible slipperyness factor if a user or aside from the strength of the scale material if either a user or a looker.

How crackable would the rivot holes be?

Hi LB,

I have to say Every time I see that knife of your's and the fantastic photo's you have taken. I just have to stop and look at it, that sample knife demands attention!
Thank you

I discussed the Clear 110 with Leroy at the BCCI Seminars this summer. He said that the Plastic handles are very prone to cracking and breaking. How ever in the time since this 110 was made I would think the plastics made would be a lot stronger. These were not intended for every day use. The first thing my son did when he saw this knife was want to use it. Of course I said "NO WAY" LOL.

Terrific of you to post those outstanding photos of the perfectly clear 110.

Any idea how many were made by Buck?

Spyderco has a clear-scaled (Manix2) coming out. Link to pic: see post #12 (notice that texturing on scale gives purchase but obscures innards) http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43174&highlight=clear+manix2

Here's 422...

Ahhhh. Very nice of you ITE to post the clear 422. It looks like the scales are made of ice.

Is there a 422 you don't have?

Have you ever run across a clear 110 like Longbow's pictured above? I wonder what the story is on it/them. Salesman's sample I would guess.

Man I like those demonstator 110's, gotta get one:thumbup:-not easy to come by though.:thumbdn:

Outstanding!

Wow!

Now a clear 112... Who knew.

I get it. Yes I do understand now. Yep. Everyone has one, or more, except for you know who. Hurrumphh...

Super to see thru the scales. I imagine that the builder had to polish the innards so that they would look shiny when housed in the pinned scales. Quite a job I suppose. Lucite?

Thank you kindly. Very much appreciated.

I pinged Leroy but my mail was return by the mailordemon. Maybe because of the link to Longbow's pics. I removed this link and resent. I'm not sure that he will know what I'm talking about without the link. I'll keep after it though.

Maybe Leroy will be able to provide new ones. And, maybe they won't be too difficult or too costly and just maybe they will be too cool for school like the ones above. :D

The Bucklite 422s and 426s came in different clear color, but I think they were only saleman samples... I need a 422s and 426s in red and green (clear)... Old ones, not the newer clear blue and red Flick-it ones... Those are a regular run... They made some 424s in some clear colors too... All very hard to find... Well I can't find them... I'll post some more next week on the SPS... ITE

I got my 110 from a ex-Buck-employee... She was in sale... And the 112 I traded it to Clint (Bucksway) last year... I miss it...

They go for over a $150.00 when you can find one... Good luck... and they came different ways... Half frame and no clear plastic... Half Frame and Clear plastic... and just Clear... They were made for most of Bucks saleman in the Custom shop... ITE

Your welcome Oregon, I need 422 and 426 in Red and green clear and there could be other colors that I don't know about... and they are saleman samples as far as I know... Some are one of kind and some they only made a hand full of... ITE ...

It looks to me like the inside of the holes that house the pins are not polished to the point of being clear. It would be nice to see the pins within the clear scales. A minor point and probably a bit of a trial/risky (might break the scale and overly change the size of the hole and discombobulate the setting of the pins) to polish the holes with any machine.

So they are all, 100% of the crystal clear Bucks, salesman samples. And, collectible for their uniqueness, limited numbers, visual delightfulness and marketing connection.

These would be great fun for a kid Longbow. The mysteries of a folding knife revealed as if you had xray vision. Terrific. Food for the curious.

I would really enjoy a crystal clear user 110. The marketing samples are beautiful because the mechanism, the engineering, the creativity and execution of the peerless 110 are outstanding. You just simply want to see the genius of Buck without obfuscating coverings, even the most brilliant artistic and rare handle materials obscure the innards, sometimes.
