Sorry to hit the board with two in a row, it's been a slow week in here! Today I've got something completely new for me, a cleaver in AEB-L stainless with Buckeye burl and G10 handle, with a figured walnut saya. The grind is slightly convex plungeless, down to 0.020" before sharpening at the edge. Sharpened 20 dps, also convex and brought to a mirror edge that shaves with ease, perhaps a little overboard for a cleaver but I just couldn't help myself. Heat treated by Peters to 60 HRC. Measures .140" at the spine, I don't have a kitchen scale on hand to get an accurate weight for you but I will update with that info soon, for now I will just say that it's nice and hefty but not unreasonable. Blade measures 8.5x3", OAL is just over 13". Handle is affixed with copper corby bolts and mosaic pin.
I kind of accidentally hit on a two-tone theme with this knife, with some great vivid contrast on the buckeye, black/white/black G10, and the two toned sapwood and heartwood on the walnut saya. I've gotta say, this is the most excited I've been about a knife off the bench in a while, which goes with the territory of a new model, but also just the way the elements meshed together. Thanks for having a look, please reply in the thread with any questions of feel free to email or PM me as well.
