Cleaver style choppers. Thoughts?

Todd (Hunt) or Murph(nuge) did a really nice Zomstro mod.

I like your 9, NCSlice....but I'll keep mine whole, if you get my point....ahahahaha! Seriously, tho - a point doesn't really take anything away vis-a-vis chopping capability, but does add some functionality, IMO. Of course, I realize that all those Blade Sport comp knives have no points, per se....but when I'm in the woods I am not looking to compete.

who do I talk to about turning my zomstro into that work of art.

So, I am starting to think a Johnson Parangatang cut down to 10.5 inches would be more up my alley. More of a golok style than a meat cleaver.

I'm a two-knife guy. If you also have a smaller knife with a relatively thin blade and a nice pointy tip for detail work (like say, a BK-16 or BK-15), there's really no reason not to select a cleaver-style chopper for the heavy stuff. The physics are simple, you get more power and leverage from the extra weight near the tip.

Having said that, I do make big camp knives with pointy tips and sharpened clips sometimes, because hey, they're cool too :)

here you go:
Modded a Parangatang a while back and thought I'd finally show off what I have so far.

Eventually going to do more to pimp these two out but that may be a while.

I really like the shorty. It has a great feel in the hand and the balance is nice for sure.

I know Murph likes it! lol :D

Hope the rest of you do too.

Oh, and I believe that I took off 4 1/4 inches if I remember correctly.

Enjoy!

I'll just leave these pics here....

my dedicated Bushcraft large chopper..... ( LOL, no, seriously )

Literally out chops my GB small forest axe... I like the raised shelf near tip for baton strikes, I've used it for about a year now and it just keeps getting better and better....One day I'm going to have a different carry rig made for it....leather with a long shoulder strap that hangs over my left shoulder and crosses the body to hold the blade on my right hip....will piggyback my 16 on it.

Its definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I love the crazy thing....

She'll Baton....

makes a decent draw knife...

just sexy....

size comparison based on other popular choppers....

The big cleaver/choppers do have a place, they do, they do....... I almost scored a two ox a whack whopper acoupleof years ago at PWYP....... Let it evade my clutching little fingers ....Damn...... Had some bad experiences with cleavers as a kid and never developed an adult hankering....... If you find something that catches your eye grab it...... I know the M18 and I know it works..... The Zomstro will whack with the best of them.......

This feels weird........ I was just on the zombietools website looking at that blade. It also made me think of this thread and the "mini m18" that I couldn't remember the name of and was too lazy to go looking. Thanks, Hawgsnawt!

How does someone get an M9? Is that a custom order since it is not listed as a workhorse?
