Clip evolution.

Just traded for another Benchmade. I love Benchmade and have had many many models. Over the last few years ive been seeing this move towards deep carry. Something I'm just not a fan of.

So when I knew I had a tagged out coming my way, I went ahead and got a regular clip. Not a big fan of the placement, Feels like it's falling off the handle. I feel there was no consideration for anything other than deep carry.

Why do you think there has been such a move towards deep carry? Real knife enthusiasts buy a higher level of knife, such as benchmade. I would think they wouldn't be ashamed for people to know they have a tool in their pocket. I assume that people like deep carry cause they dont want people to know theyre carrying a knife. Or is it, theyre concerned with the knife falling out of their pocket? Just some thoughts.

I like the deep carry because I don’t want to lose my knife. It’s less sticking out to snag on stuff. When a knife comes with a titanium clip I replace them with steel and bend them to hold onto my pocket tighter. It’s easy to lose a knife hunting in the woods. Especially when a young dog makes its first few trees and your running to get there tripping and falling all the way. Cutting firewood and white water rafting has also lost me some knives when the clip isn’t really tight and sticking up high out of my pocket.

The catawampus way the clip is mounted on the Taggedout is atrocious. Wonderful knife no doubt, the clip is not.

Ive looked thoroughly online, aside from requesting a custom one somewhere. If anyone has an idea where to find a curved clip thay flows with the handle, I'd love to hear about it.

I too was trying to improve on the Taggedout clip orientation. Replacement scales for it are scarce. One outfit makes good looking scales, but has rather dodgy customer service manners at best. This is how they place the clip attachments, which would direct the clip straight down the meat of the handle, which I would prefer. See picture.

.577NE I didn't think of putting new scales on, that's a pretty great solution. AWT seems to make some good looking scales. I may have to jump into that idea soon.

You can't go wrong with AWT. They deliver top quality and fitment.

Could not agree more. I avoid deep carry clips.
