clip insert stuck, any ideas on how to get it off

Hey guys this is my first xm 18 3 inch. I want to put the clip in the tip up position, the insert seems to be stuck. Any ideas on how to get it off without scratching the knife.

They can seat pretty snug. I first try holding the knife spacer side down with my index finger on the G10 side and cracking the corner on my wooden desk (does not mark the knife) that usually unseats it.
If not, I have a paper clip I have put a little hook on the end with a pair of needle nose pliers. Get a good purchse and pull the spacer paralell to the knife and up and that unseats it.
Some use an allen wrench that fits snug into the hole.
 
N2K discovered recently that a SAK cork screw works well (makes sense) pointy curved tip that is a natural grab, probably very controllable as well.

You tattle. :p

In a pinch, in my hotel room, with limited tools....the corkscrew on a Leatherman Juice (or similar SAK or multitool with such)...can and did work to remove a sticky tab on a friend's 3" XM.
