Clip insert stuck

I got it! I was able to fit a very small Allen wrench under the scale and get it to catch the edge of the insert, coming from the bottom. 1 good whack and off she popped. Finally! I'm very tempted to throw it away now.

Glad you finally got it. no need to chunk it. I've used fine sandpaper and honed the bottom and edges for it to fit better. I think some have a burr that needs to be removed. I've had a couple of clips that were difficult to take off.

Ya I didn't chuck it. I'll work on sanding it and getting it to fit nice. Just pissed me off so much I wanted to at the time.

I can understand that...honestly, I have never looked into an insert simply because (in my opinion) they just look like a blemish. I wish someone would come up with something meaningful to put in there...like a tiny LED button light or some sort of tritium gadget that looks nice and actually fills the entire cutout (and can be removed with confidence).

I saw someone made an inlay that looked decent...it would seem if you put the screw in through the backside of the scale, it would press the bonded inlay out....just a thought for a talented enthusiast.

While I have done nothing special to enhance the clip insert, and it remains "stock" in the sense that the only thing changed about it is it's finish, I am still liking my clip insert quite well. It has even worn in well with the rest of the knife, I think. If nothing else, it makes my CF DT Sebenza very unique/exclusive to me.

I realize this topic is 3 years old, well CRK newbie here who’s latest trade was for an op ‘Zaan and it had a clip spacer stuck. Thanks for all your suggestions. In the end a very quick and precise torching of just the spacer (with my overkill cigar lighter) expanded it enough to break the years of pocket goo keeping it attached.

Great to be here!

Thanks for bringing this thread back and good to hear the techniques for an insert removal. By coincidence I recently removed the clip from Zaan and am waiting on the insert. Maybe I give the edges a quick buff before inserting. I have a nice monogrammed leather tri-pen holder that fits the knife perfectly. The Umnumzaan is MUCH more comfortable in my hand without the clip.
