CLIP OPINIONS

Personally, I like a clip that is unobtrusive, both when knife is in hand and when it is in the pocket. I personally prefer it on the pivot end, and very high on the knife.

That is pretty much my major concerns on a clip. Things like tension can be adjusted.

One of my favourite clips is on my Spydie Calypso Jr. It is short compared to BM clips, grips well, and is coated with some slick stuff to make it easy to remove. It is high on the pivot end and it doesn't damage my pants. It is my favourite example for how a clip should be!

I like the clip at the point of the blade end or tip up. Some how that is more confortable fo me. Some say that is the wrong end. I have moved a lot clips from one end to the other for diffent ones over the years. Most want a low profile, the clip as close to the edge of top as possible (ether end).

As Quakers say, "The Friend speaks my mind". I agree heartily with CDFleischer that clips should be at the pivot end and high up. They should also be as unobtrusive as possible. The clips on my Terzuola Clip-Its could be improved only by a flat-black finish.

Just a personal preferance. I remove any clips that obstruct my index finger from comming in full contact with a handle when the knife is opened and held in a manner ready to use.

I prefer any kind of pocket clip that is'nt
metal. I might be the only one who loves the old Spyderco Endura plastic pocket clip(or Cold Steel). They didn't wear out my pockets
like metal ones do. The metal ones scratched
things like chairs, paint on cars, and I know of someone who scratched a windshield to an airplane ($$$). I'd like to see a rubber coated clip.

It would be nice to provide filler screws in the event that the consumer wants to remove the clip and still have a finished-looking knife.

A clip should accent the knife, not just hang off it. It should be easy on the hand, and hold the knife securly when in use.

The clip should be dull black and not shiny stainless which screams knife from across the room. A coating that won't damage car seats yet allows for easy release. Some form of tension adjustment would also be nice.

Well you and I talked about this on the phone for over three hours but I will need to talk with you more next week at the Shot Show.

Darrel,

I want mine to be unobtrusive in hand and in pocket. I want it to be easy on fabrics and other stuff it comes in contact with. And I want it to keep my blade secure without fear of loss.

So far EDI's deep mount garners a "star" as does Spydies ProVenator clip with rubbery inserts I mounted on my Elishwitz (although 4 years wore the stuff almost completely off). Pictures I've seen of artistic wire type clips look great as they definately do not shout KNIFE.
