Clip or no Clip?

It really does depend on the knife. For the most part, I find any knife over about 3.5 - 4" closed to be uncomfortable sitting at the bottom of my pocket, thus necessitating a clip (or a belt pouch). On the other hand, a clip would just absolutely ruin the lines of some of my nicer "gents" knives.

Oh, and Knifeclerk, you might want to double check Penal Code section 12020. The Great State of California (:barf: ) doesn't care about blade length -- carrying a concealed fixed blade is a felony.

I carry my SS Cricket and my Benchmite clipless and loose in pocket, but I like everything else to have a clip or an in-pocket sheath that is clipped. I like to know exactly where the knife is and how it's going to come out of the pocket so I can grab it and open it without having to think about it much. Just makes it that much more useful. I mean if I've got the neighbor's cat in my left hand I don't have time to be fumbling around in my right pocket for my knife (it's a joke, cats are fine by me :D ). It also bugs me to have even a 3" folder loose in my pocket, lying sideways, fraternizing with keys and change...

I'd be very interested to hear from the folks who really hate clips, what is it about them they find so evil and vomit-inducing?

An interesting point is that the Delica is (for me) much harder to open without using the clip as a place to put my fingers because it's so thin. The Griptilian, however, feels better without a clip.
