I find it pointless to argue against people's personal preferences. I carry tip up (with lanyards) in my rf pocket and find that most convenient for me. I have tested it each way and that is simply what I prefer.
What caused me to all but swear off tip down carry was a slice in the pocket of my pants that happened without me having any knowledge that it even occurred. As I said earlier, I prefer the security of the blade resting against the seam of the pocket. It must be noted however, that I experienced a life altering car accident in my 20's that left me hyper-vigilant to issues like this and the forces involved in such unforeseen events. That being said, it doesn't escape me that a folding knife may open in extreme instances no matter what configuration you carry it in. I'm just carrying what I'm most comfortable (and what also just so happens to work better for me), and I think everyone else should practice with what they like and do the same.
