Clips NOT Deep Carry

All the knife descriptions extol the virtues of deep pocket carry and I understand why. However, I cuss the deep carry several times a day because I cannot get at my knife easily. Are there any aftermarket clips that can raise my knife so that I can grab it quickly? This question pertains to Benchmade and several other brands.

I am also not a fan of deep carry clips. I can't speak to aftermarket options, but with Benchmade in particular you can call them and request a standard clip. They used to send you one for free but now I think they charge a small amount. Also, in my experience the Benchmade knives that come with deep carry are still drilled with three holes to fit a standard clip. However depending on the thickness of various knives the screws aren't always interchangeable, so you may have to order extra screws or go with just two (not ideal but I've never had a problem while doing so).

With Benchmade most clips are interchangeable so you can replace a deep carry or mini deep carry with the standard Benchmade clip or split arrow clip and it will ride higher. Here's a couple Griptilians showing the difference. Height will naturally vary based on the design.

Can’t have deep carry without a lanyard
I usually use a large fob / lanyard on any carry folder and don't bother with a deep carry clip .

Because , unless you just like the knife to ride deeper for extra retention , you are not concealing with a fob hanging out . :p

I can’t warm up to lanyards. Maybe I’m using it wrong. I end up with 1/2 knife, 1/2 lanyard.
I do like the look of them, but they bother me using the knife, flapping around.
Deep carry doesn’t seem to be an issue…untill now, thanks guys, something else to worry about.

I dont see the point of deep carry clips. don't hate them, just don't see any advantage. guess it's type of britches ones wearing that matters for retention, maybe? cause it doesn't hide squat. those long clips are obvious even to a non knife person ya got a knife in your pocket......

I don’t do deep carry clips. On Benchmade I prefer the standard old normal clips. I’ve never bought aftermarket clips. I’m not much help

Definitely better on some knives but I prefer a normal clip.....Same with a fob.....

As far as people noticing them, around my way probably 85% don't see beyond the damn cell phone their nose is buried in.....That and most are just too wrapped up in themselves to be aware of more than where their phone is...... Now, I notice just about everything because I really don't trust those around me to not do something stupid.... Its a wonder more people aren't hit by cars in NY shitty (NYC) as they stroll across intersections oblivious... Nature will take its course!!! Darwinism at.its best!😜

Only knife people and cops/security notice clips.

Low carry for me is about avoiding scrapes or catching on door frames and furniture. I will pick easier access if I'm out and about, so see the benefits of both.

I like them because they keep the knife out of the way. Deep carry clips aren’t supposed to be “concealed carry” like IWB is for guns. I think it just keeps that butt end of the knife in the pocket so it isn’t getting caught on stuff.

Clips hmmm

I am not fond of clips. I like the handle feel without them (most of the time) however clips make carrying much more simpler and is a better way to carry in my opinion. I consider clips open carry (not allowed where I live) whether it's deep carry or not. In this day everybody knows a clip is more likely than not to be attached to a knife so whether it's deep carry or regular is a matter of personal preference.

My work requires pockets with zippers, so loop over deep carry clips work best. They provide enough clearance to get over the zipper, and sit low enough to let me close the zipper all the way to the clip.

Deep carry clips are perfect for tip down knives in rear pockets. Fast and convenient.
