Clips NOT Deep Carry

None of my knives have lanyards, and most are deep carry. I go against the grain!

I concur. I have no problem getting to my knife with a deep carry clip. I also dislike lanyards. I don't like to draw anymore attention to the fact that I have something clipped to my pocket than necessary.

I don't care if people see my knife; I am not a secret ninja.
What I DO care about is ease of grabbing the knife out to use it.
I do not like "deep carry" clips, and replace them with ones that ride a tad higher when that is an option. Some knives have clip attachment where only the deep carry clip they make would fit, in which case I leave it.

Most people fixate on the 4 foot long walking stick I'm carrying, and don't notice what's in my pockets anyway.
Some get all bent about the stick, like at work where they tried saying it shouldn't be carried at a certain site (might trigger some folks). I told them that if they wanted me to able to walk around or stand for any length of time, then the stick stays.

Of course, if I went to Calgary I'd drop the knife entirely in the pocket, or use belt pouch covered by loose shirt/jacket. They have a bylaw where you get a fine if they see your knife.

• No person shall carry a knife that is visible in a public place.
• Fines for violations of these regulations range between $50 and $300.

A fob might be an easy fix if your knife has a lanyard hole.

I am between belt pouches for my Leatherman Wave. My current carry mode is via pocket clip in my right front pocket or right back pocket, depending on what pants I am wearing. . . .and I don't like either.

The Wave is too heavy for loose deep pocket wear. Using the clip gets the weight onto the belt better. I will be getting a new belt pouch to wear horizontally. That gets the weight back onto the belt in a low visibility mode.

Exactly, if I have to use my knife for defensive purpose, I want the first announcement of the blades presence to be contact with the other party. I try to be a pretty low key gray man.
