The other day I did a bit of trading with a sculptor who lives here part of the year and in Arizona the rest of the year. I got a bunch of Ironwood and Walnut that he had set aside for the past 10 years. I had big buckeye and maple burls that he needed for a commission so we made a trade. So far I have gone through 4 blades and broke my bandsaw twice cutting this stuff.
Even though this is old stuff you will want to let it set for awhile to release any residual internal moisture and allow it to acclimate to your area. There will be some small hairline checks and small voids in some pieces. So be prepared to use a bit of CA glue for any that fall within your handle area. I trimmed away most of the bigger flaws. The pieces are photographed individually so you can see exactly what you will be getting.
