These blocks look like black leopard spots to me. This is Black Palm cut at a very steep diagonal to show the spots formed by the tubes while maintaing a good bit of the strength of the grain of the wood. These were stabilized by K&G so they are hard and heavy.

If you would like your blocks cut into scales I can do that at no charge. There will normally be about 1/8" loss of material from each cut and sanding. Let me know if you want the scales to be 3/8" thick or whatever thickness you need.
