I've had this for a few weeks and I've spend at least a part of each day since I got it trying to talk myself into keeping it because it is just soooooo beautiful. It ain't happening. I absolutely love the knife but I cannot keep it because...I'm a lefty.

I knew before I bought it that the clip was right hand only but I thought that maybe, just maybe, it would be OK and I'd be able to carry it as I've carried quite a few other right hand only knives over they years. The short answer is: nope.

The longer answer is that while of course it is possible to carry it in my left pocket, it isn't built for lefties. I realized pretty much as soon as I took it out of the box and slipped it into my pocket that I wouldn't keep it but I've been arguing with myself because it's so cool. In the end, I simply won't keep a knife that cost as much as this one if it isn't perfect for me or at least damn close. And a right handed knife for a lefty is definitely not perfect ;)

This 0777-M390BLK is stunning and is in absolutely perfect condition. The blade has never cut a thing; the knife has only been opened a handful of times; and I've slipped it briefly into my pocket a few times to see how it carried. There is not a scratch, nick, or blemish on it. The box is in similar condition.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures. I don't have much of a camera.

It sure seems suited for left hand tip up carry with the clip position and knife contour.

It's no different than any other dedicated right hand "only" knife. You can certainly carry it in your left pocket, as I've done with dozens of knives over the years, and open it with some minor manipulation. I certainly do not mean to imply that a lefty can't use it. The thing is, it's slightly awkward to get it set to open, has some pocket positioning issues, and, as I said, I don't want to compromise with a knife this expensive. I've carried righty knives many times in the past but I've always eventually stopped. These days, I generally don't buy a knife that can't be setup for a lefty. I made an exception in this case because the knife was just so damn beautiful. Blinded by beauty again, I suppose...

When I remove a righty, tip up knife from my left pocket, it comes out backwards - the spine of the knife ends up facing in against my palm and fingers. In order to open it, I have to flip it 180 degrees in my hand to access the flipper "nub" with my finger. There's also an issue with how a righty setup like this rides in my pocket. I carry my knives clipped to the back of my pocket and, when setup for lefty carry, the blade faces the back of the pocket. In the event of an accidental opening, it would be somewhat held in place by the fabric of the pocket. When I have a righty carry in my left pocket, the blade faces the front of the pocket and an accidental opening would allow the blade much more room to actually open.

Try it yourself. If you're a righty, take one of your knives that has a fully reversible clip and move it to exactly the opposite side - tip up right to tip up lefty or tip down right to tip down lefty - and then carry it in your right pocket for a day or three. I suspect you'll much prefer the stock right hand carry position.

The 0777 is still available, by the way.
