Ignore that in red below - Bigfatty had to pull out. NEW WINNER is post #53... stonproject.

PM or email with your address, and I'll get this right out to you.

Thanks again, everyone!

Derek...

OK, I think 100 entries is sufficient - I think the knife description probably scared a few folks away.

Anyhow, the wifey randomly says that post #8 is the WINNER... Congrats goes to... Bigfattyt!

Thanks to all who entered - I read and enjoyed every post.

Cheers,

Derek...

The 5,000th Post “Strong Nails” Giveaway.

Ok, so I just hit 5,000 posts (whoohoo!). In recognition of such a ridiculous feat, I’m giving away a 100% brand-new-in-tube GEC Tidioute Cody Scout Jack in Black Linen Micarta (see pics below). Very nice knife, but it too has a ridiculous side – the back springs on this thing are Ridiculously Strong! It’s gotta be a 9 out of 10 on the “pull” scale. It’s an absolutely beautiful and well-made knife otherwise, though, just tough on the nails.

So consider that to be fair warning, y’all – please only enter this GAW if you have strong nails (or if you use an opening device – I’m familiar with those). Anyone who has NOT won a previous Giveaway may enter, and a simple “I’m in” will suffice, but feel free to share stories of other knives that were ridiculously hard to open. One other thing, I will only cover shipping withing the United States - if you are outside of the U.S., I will ask you to cover the shipping expense.

The winner will be chosen randomly by my better-half after there are a sufficient number of entries (“sufficiency” to be determined by me, as ridiculous as that may be). And just as an aside, I have two of these - I'm keeping the other one for myself as it's a permanent part of my haversack "woods kit." It's a great companion (if you can handle the pull).

Cheers,

Derek…

I'm in.

Very generous of you.

Thanks for the GAW.

I had a DLC Les George VECP once. It had the strongest detent I've ever experienced. I guess there's a special way to open it but man my thumb was sore.

Well shucks. I won a sod buster jr. a few months back, so I guess that's a no go for me. It's not a slippie, but I do have an opinel that I stained and varnished. While I was applying the varnish some must have gotten into the pivot. Ever since then this things been a huge pain to open, especially when it has sat around for a while unused. I'm very slowly working it out though. Kind of sucks because I put so much time in modifying it. Now it's to tough to carry. Oh well, you live and you learn I suppose.
Very generous GAW by the way, and good luck to everyone.

Very generous of you. I don't enter a lot of GAW's but I'm in for sure. That's a lovely knife.

I'm in. :D

Thanks for the chance.

I would be in for that fine knife.

I love a hard pull on my slip joints.

I'm in, verk generous of you!

Aint got no good stories, though I've been looking for the right folder to gift to my father.
And that mans nails are though, we're talking upp to 55hc, so the folder would go nicely with them :)

Very generous GAW and splendid knife ! I love the strong pulls and usually can't get them. They are getting rare and seem to happen by accident. I have a Tidioute single bladed Sunfish I absolutely love : beastly pull and very reliable knife once open. I am in !
