Although I have owned several of these excellent SMF/NSN folders, this is by far the nicest example I've ever seen.
It sits in my safe and I thought someone else should enjoy it. It is a beautiful example of Strider's art. This folder is just a joy to fondle and hold in my hand. A collector's dream, or someone who wants to own the finest SMF...IMO.
Asking what I paid about one year ago... $500 PayPal. DROP TO $450 NO LOWBALL OFFERS AND NO TRADES, PLEASE.
First post "I'll take it" (in this thread), followed by a PM or email to me, gets the knife. Of course, I reserve the final decision about the sale.
When DET-1 of the U.S. Marine Corps was formed and their equipment being chosen, in June of 2003, they chose Strider's SMF folding knife as their issued blade. After rigorous field testing, including parachute jumps, the unit's Commanding Officer, Colonel Robert Coates remarked that the knife was "selected by, built for, and issued to the Marine Corps SOCOM Detachment." This latest version of this knife (generation 2 and above) includes the Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer, a mechanism designed by custom knifemaker Rick Hinderer and licensed for use by Strider.
Thanks to Wikipedia for the historical background of this great folding knife.
