Is it common on these for the blade to touch the spacer? I would suspect the blade is dull at the contact point from hitting the spacer. Does it need to be resharpened? Could I send it back to Dwaine Carrillo to rectify this issue? Thanks!
It is NOT common for these blades, extreme as they are, to touch the back spacer. This one only touches if the blade is compressed into the handle in the closed position. The blade touches where there is a change in the grind and is surprisingly not dulled at all. The CPM 154 blade appears to be unaffected by the aluminum back spacer. It certainly does not need to be resharpened. That said, Dwaine Carrillo has been responsive to my needs in the past, although I do not know what his books look like at the moment. This is a beast of a knife and opens with authority!
