I think you are indeed getting the hang of it!
That knife looks like it would be a great slicer. The blade is nice and thin, and the handle looks sized right with enough contour to provide a nice, solid grip.
I also think the thumb-ramp would be very-naturally placed to allow the user to put more pressure into a cut.
I normally find that knives with a decided thumb-ramp provide better tip-control in detail notching/cutting tasks.
The deep-carry pocket-clip is well positioned, and looks like it would be effective in use.
I also would say that you have a distinct style; your knife has a unique style, I think that is a great trait.
