I like the idea of the chatroom...What I'd like to see here though are things NOT avalible on the Becker forum, so like Paden said, chatroom...Seems kinda pointless otherwise paying for something if you can just go on the net and use it (Bladeforums) for free.

I agree, there has to be some stuff that isn't readily available via the forum. That's what we are looking for here is ideas.

this is a far stretch but i would love to have an app where you could customize different kives. lengthen/shorten blades, change points and shapes, change different color micarta and even have have an option for the steel where you could choose different types (1095 CroVan, 440-C, S30V, D2) and colors (the black coating, stripped, or K9 easter style). Now that would be fun to mess around with.

Actually, swapping out stuff would not be TOO big of a deal (would actually be easier to build a web app for this and then embed it in the app), but the lengthen and shorten blades etc would be beyond my skill level..

what about just changing different color blades and/or handles for one or two knives in the lineup? I honestly have no clue whatsoever what it would entail or if that would even be possible but think it would be cool nonetheless. I definitely like where you are going with this.

should keep the data static - no servers == slow; and if the server is done == nothing. if they want updates, update the app. this seems to be the best strategy for "resource" apps
database/pictures... and the data would be coming from ... where? mmm.
i would recommend no ads. that implies income, which Ethan's lawyers would be keen on. plus i hate ads in my apps.

I agree with all of the below.
data could be stored on the device, and updated over the web, but I am fine with releasing new versions of the app, just more downloading and updating for you guys
That way it would work offline, but update data when it had an internet connection (something I am doing in another app for work)
Also, if it's a static app and there is no hosting involved, then there really isn't any cost to try to offset for me (I was going to try to offset a monthly server cost of probably $20 or so)

just so that no one is confused, i am not in this to make money, I am using this to further my knowledge of iOS programming, and possibly as a portfolio piece.
