I honestly have 100% NO interest in doing android development, I am not a java guy and find it ridiculous to have to build your interfaces with xml files by hand (or with a crappy gui creator).
I would be MORE than happy to advise someone else in building the android version once the iOS version is going strong though ;)
That may also change if WORK makes me start doing Android apps also...

could you make it for android too please

If you got the blessing to link directly to Blade Forums then a button on the main page that takes you right to Ethan's challenge of the month would be cool. Also it would be sweet if the app had downloadable Becker Wallpapers for your device.

This is probably more that you wanted to do (or maybe something you can do in version 100 ;)) but it seems like we are mostly outdoorsy type people here so......

You could expand it to have non-knife stuff like:

An Outdoors Section
(1) Declination (for compasses) map of N. America/World
(2) Basic Survival - just a checklist of things to think about when u get lost/injured/etc in the woods
(3) Basic Fish/Game Cleaning - once again very basic, just how to gut an animal, scale a fish. I know most of us know how to do it already but it might be interesting for the "average person".
(4) Bullet Drop for most popular rifle calibers in most common grain weights (.22lr, .223, 270, 30/30, .308, 30/06) - there are already applications for this but would be cool anyway or at least for my favorite calibers ;).
[This list could have many more subjects]

An "Ethan's Camp Cooking Recipes" Section
(1) Basic Tips
(2) Easy Recipes for Camping
[Would need Ethan's help of course, but wouldn't it be great to have recipes with you while camping?]

An Outdoor Internet Links Section

If you went this far, then you'd have to expand to android phones too, but I think an application like this could be great for everybody - KaBar, Ethan, Customers, etc.

Just a suggestion.

I *AM* interested in doing android development, but spend most of my spare time making knives. :)
Regardless, keep me in the loop.
Agreed about the XML gui layout - crappy. Xcode/iOS is plenty fabulous compared to Eclipse/Android as a dev environment. Way better docs too.
As much as I want to learn Objective-C, I just migrated off my mac, so that's the end of that.

I like these ideas. Beckerhead map link? maybe not.

cross-sectional diagrams of the various edge types and recommended uses.

pictures of ACTUAL kitchen knives so BH's don't get totally disassociated from reality.

how about a mapping application that pre-caches map tiles for when you're out of coverage! Oh nos, you mean there are people with smartphones outside of NYC and San Francisco?? who would DO that?? is that even legal?!?

It looks like we the have initial OK from Spark to embed Bladeforums inside an iPad app (as long as not money is being made).
Now I just need to drop a message to Uncle E and see what he thinks of it.
If nothing else maybe we'll do a Bladeforums app...

It should also show the location of the nearest Yuenglings.

building the instrumentation to detect Yuenglings will be the tricky part.
If we can clone and miniaturize little Murphs perhaps this is possible.

Make part of the app "daily use" and people can upload new pics of their beckers in use, or posing for pics
