A few questions being raised over the last few days from non-regular contributors in the Kershaw/ZT Sub-forum, that I suppose needs explaining.

If you feel the forum is currently for positivity only, you are correct. No sub-forum within this entire site wants anything but positive, so we are not unique. As to sub-forum philosophy, some brand forums are not as closely modded as others. They feel the natural direction of a thread is the best way to go. One could say they have little time for threads that bring out the worst of folks, and just let it roll. Brand forums can vary with popularity. With popularity comes lots of views. With lots of views come disagreements. Folks handle disagreements differently. Most folks don’t deal with disagreements well. Threads get ugly, folks get upset, and you have a virtual train wreck on your hands. This is not what we want on the Kai sub-forum. We used to be a lot closer with members here, and opened our business up and shared in the past. Not so much anymore. Mostly due to negativity. Please read the rules, again. We’re playing heavier on the stop before it’s too late format. Piling on is not cool as well. You may not like that style. We don’t care. It is the way we are running the forum. Should you not like this style, please move along with our complete understanding. No need to even let us know here.

To go further, if you have an unpleasant experience with one of our products, it’s ok for it to be discussed here, as long as it is done in a civil and respectful way. If you want to bring attitude and disrespect, don’t bother posting. Having a bad experience with a product does not have to be negative. There can be very productive convo that can happen over a bad experience, but is up to the members to ensure that in fact their words reflect the direction of the thread. Details matter in situations like these. Where you received your knife matters. Why you don't return a knife to a dealer/individual after receiving the knife matters. It matters, and needs to be said if a knife has been taken apart. Coming in and knocking an individual knife without details will bring on questions from regulars. It's what happens. The mods are watching, and we are not letting threads roll into where internet commentary usually goes in threads of this nature. Additionally, don’t be surprised when the regular contributors (these are the fans of Kai products), react to negativity with negativity. It’s just the way it is. If you can’t handle that, and want arguments and premature threads being closed, don’t be surprised or upset when you’re asked not to show up anymore (there have been 2 so far). Again, we are looking for a good experience here no matter what the subject matter. In the future a regular contributor on our forum will have a bad experience, please follow their lead on how to handle and address such issues. Watch the result of that thread. See how the Mods wont interfere.

We understand that all brands, and all products are not perfect. Look around at the forums with any product, and brand. You wont find one brand that hasn’t had issues. We’re not an exception. We stand behind our products and consumers. We have proven this thousands of times. We will do it a thousand more in the future. We know our product better than the consumer. If you want to share an issue with us, that is ok, just make sure you do it in accordance to the rules, or the thread will derail quickly.

We trust this will bring positivity to both good and bad experiences, and allow the Kershaw/ZT Sub-forum to be different/better from the others and our past here..

I'm hesitant to keep this open, as I am unsure what there really is to say to all of this, but we'll proceed and see where it goes.

Well spoken. Kai has been more than helpful with any and all issues I've had. Communication was pleasant and respectful.
Kai great customer service is enough to make me keep buying knives from them even if they were problem knives...but they're not! They make great knives and I love all my ZTs.
Customer service is key. It can make or break a company and Kai has great customer service.

Thank You!

Eric

As a new member, I was a bit confused by some of the other threads and lockings...perfect explanation!

The KAI side input on what is expected is very helpful. It's generally easier to relate with the individual rather than the company. Your explanation helps to be able to relate with you guys. And it can be easy to forget the company is full of individuals.

Definitely needs to be a sticky; a much better description of current expectations of this forum. While I may disagree with the undertone of the mods, I do understand it. I feel that while we try to keep things civil, we need to also keep things as unpretentious as possible. Often elder Kai jump to conclusions when even a hint of negativity arises instead of giving the benefit of the doubt to whoever stirred their pot. I've personally been on both sides: Once I was accused of spine whacking because I had an issue with lock slippage (I still hold that person in ill regard)/ And I for no apparent reason spread the hateful attitude towards shepherd when all he did was ask a question (I did apologize!).

I enjoy it here, so I try to play by the rules...however it might help if we all try to play nicely as well.

Bravo!
I've never been a big poster here, but part of that was the dogpile atmosphere.
I love your products and thanks to this thread i may spend more time reading here again.

My thoughts exactly. It's nice to hear from the company directly in this case, albeit I mainly lurk here.

Well said KAI.

It's natural for the regulars, as well as the rest of us who genuinely enjoy KAI products to get a bit defensive when perceived "accusations" are brought up. Try telling someone who will only drive Chevrolets that Fords (or even Toyotas!) are easier to repair... BLASPHEMY!

Very well said and I couldn't agree more! It is unfortunate that the KAI sub-forum had to come to this, but I think it's headed in the right direction and things are looking up.

Hear, hear. Well said.

With popularity comes passion and when not contained train wrecks occur.

Arguing succinctly in a constructive and objective manner with respect is the way posters should conduct themselves.

Personally, reacting negatively to a naysayers negative opinions is stooping to their bad disposition.

Ugh...this is going to kill all the fun bathroom reading I've been getting recently.

Thanks a lot Mr. Buzz Killington...

*grumble grumble*

I just saw the second one. I'm posting this as the credits roll. Needless to say, I'm in a much better mood.

I co-sign everyone's post so far LOL.

People want to get snarky? Shut it down, they can do it somewhere else.

I hope that close relationship with KAI and its customers in the forum continues. Let the bad apples get the boot.
