So I grabbed one of each of the cloth and the polyester buffing belts from KnG on an impulse buy the other day.

I've already got two felt buffing belts that I use with white and green compound respectively and they work well, but I hadn't seen the cloth or poly belts before so I was intrigued for 10 bucks. I've got red, black, white, green and pink compounds at my disposal but I'm not sure which compound to load on which of these belts to get optimal results... or if it even makes a difference with these particular belts.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers and a belated happy new year to all!

I will be buying some of these soon. I finish my blades down to 9 Nortons. I figure the green will be the way to go. Frank

They have their uses. I have found them great for polishing curved and rounded surfaces on a slack belt, but poor for polishing flat surfaces against a flat platen or contact wheel. They might be of use in polishing hollow grinds, I suppose.

They work with diamond compound well for polishing stone, too.
