Clothwrapped handle

I have a CS Trailhawk that I've worked on, and I want to give it some haft wrapping. I've seen the tutorials on how to paracord wrap the haft, but I'm looking for more of a worn cloth look. I've tried wrapping with strips of burlap, but it ends up not being tight enough, and slips around.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what type of material I should use, or any methods for properly wrapping the handle tightly with cloth?

Thanks

I might try the material seamstresses use to reinforce the edge of a garment...
it might be called 'ribbing'... or something like that...

I would think cotton might be the best cloth, something that won't unravel... it needs to have a 'finished' edge... maybe 1/2" wide... wrap it similar to how 10-speed handlebar tape is wrapped, or like tape on a baseball bat...

thanks for the suggestion. anyone have any idea for how to make it so that it doesn't slip? should i use some sort of epoxy or something?

You could use contact adhesive. Easy to find at the hardware store; comes in a little bottle like rubber cement.

Have you thought about hockey tape or bicycle handlebar tape?

I have thought about tape, but it doesn't seem like it would fit the look I was going for well. I will post some pictures this weekend to show you guys my hawk.
