Club/billie club/mace questions.

Go to the hardware store, get yourself a piece of black iron pipe and screw a huge coupling to it. Then put it in your trunk with a case of cheap beer and these instructions. More fun to explain to the local constabulary. :D

Only problem with that plan is the beer would probably get me into more trouble since legally I can't buy it. ;)

Then it's REALLY fun to explain to the cops! :D :D :D "No--really, officer! It's for sporting purposes only! You think I'd actually drink this crap?" :p

A case o' generic store-brand soda or seltzer would stand it. :D

Look up power stick bat training system.

You can buy the set. Power Stick and Fast Stick. The skinny steel weighted one, and the skinny aluminum lighter fast one. NASTY, and, an actual piece of legitimate sports equipment. Steel or aluminum. The weighted one is 30 ounces. That, in a skinny swing-able bat would make for a hell of an impact.

Toss in a few baseballs, and an old glove, and you are good to go. Best thing? They are cheap!

I often carry Tomahawks and special forces shovel in the truck. But I normally also carry a gun, so if I have to use those, things have gone wrong!

Even cheaper? Pick/mattock handle, depending on how strong you are. I LOVE them, but, of course, I buy them and whittle the head down to fit the socket on one of my poll axe heads. Also, sledge hammer handles are a bit lighter (because they don't have the slip socket head). They are only about 10 bucks for a heavy piece of shaped hickory! If you have the trunk space, a shovel, pick and spare handle work.

As mentioned, nothing wrong with a baseball bat - probably a lot cheaper than many of the exotic options mentioned. Legal deniability (until you use it.)

I don't know if hockey (not ice hockey) is popular in the USA, but I was checking out some of the sticks in the sports store and they would hurt A LOT.

For two handed weapons, you could also look into a bokken. Unless you want to smash bricks in which case you might want to find the Cold Steel Mace.

The only whay they'd believe that is if he were drinking that rotgut Iron City crap.

I still say go for the billies from Arizona Desert Ironwood. Pricey, yes, but worth it IMHO. It'll be the only one you'll ever need. I bought my second one on an impulse. And you can keep it in your car, but I believe it cant be readily accessible...well thats the case with firearms, Im not sure what the current situation is in regards to impact weapons. And if you do decide to buy a piece of sports equipment to use as a weapony buy an Irish hurley. They make great weapons, just watch any hurling game and you'll see what I mean. Peeps can't decide whether to hit the ball or the opposing players!

I probably will. I'm also considering having one made sort of like the "tactical hawks" A nice custom shape with full micarta/G10 slabs

You have to think about the day you use something for defense and then you’re sitting in front of a jury and they are looking at you and the “weapon” you dispatched someone with. Other than firearms I’ve always gone with sports implements for the previously mentioned reasons. LE is hard pressed to drag you off to jail on a traffic stop when you have your kids T ball bat in your car, a nail studded club is another matter altogether.

My daughter just went to college and left her field hockey stick in the garage, so I tossed it in my truck. It’s hot pink and doesn’t look like a weapon, but its carbon fiber, you could beat a battalion of men to death with it and the shape is very functional as a weapon, much more than the T ball bat I used to carry. And what LE officer is going to be concerned by a hot pink field hockey stick?

Fair enough, I'll find something for car defense, though I still want a nicely designed effective club.
