I tried to explain this to momma the other day, she said the safe just doesn't go with our,''decor''. I feel a remodel comming on., as the humidity IN the safe is at 76%...!

My safe is in the (damp) basement. I picked up a box of desiccant at Cabela's and keep it locked in. No problems yet.


ETA: That secret gun room looks like the way to go!

I picked up the same at Home Depot. I have that and a Golden Rod in the safe and have yet to get the humidity below 72%.
I have a small piece of bare sheet metal in the safe as a ''rust'' gauge and, with all countermeasures in place, it has a light dusting of rust on it.

I use de-humidifier in my basement - try to keep the humidity around 40% - at 50% or higher it collects a gallon of water overnight.

I had no rusting issues in my safe with exception of STI Blued 1911 - they would rust right through the blueuing - I re-blued the 9mm and sold the .45

My buddy has one a hungarian M44 kicks like a mule with steel buttpad - I loaded some rounds for him - so in a nutshell I'm reloading for caliber I don't even own....

I wish I was able to own a Semi PKM and Dragunov. - both banned in 1996
