Good Morning people.

Great mansion there Tom!
Very cool pictures Truk!
I really like that Jap Wrap knife.

Morning.
Cool pictures Truk...nice rifle and cool knives.

I being doing some "take care" in my knives, cleaning and treating so they don't rust. It really gets me angry to see rust stains in my knives. I don't care for use marks but rust, that's one thing that pisses me off.

Taking care of them is not a problem, they need to be taken care of, like any other tool. Clean and sharp, that's how they are supposed to be.

Have a good weekend ya'all.

+1:thumbup:

Juan, I just finished resharpening 3 of my Hortons. I always put a thin coating of mineral oil on my knives when I'm done. No rust and it is food safe.

Well BBT, you opened my eyes with that video you made, I couldn't get popping hair edges on my knives, after the video, all changed. I use TufCloth and Renaissance Wax, so far they have gave me the best results for anti-rust. As far as mineral oils I use Choji oil. I don't like using normal oil, its just too "residual" and some times I think the blades get stains from it.

Mornin,

Finally a nice sunny warm day here.
Gonna go till the garden (mud) at Dad's place.

Ordered some strops from JRE like 10 days ago. Do they usually take this long?

So your Hortons smell as good as they cut.

Yes... they do lol.

I like that little fella in the picture. It has to be nasty to get cut with that, I bet is like a scalpel.

No idea about how much they can take, for me it was like a two weeks, some times they don't have what you ask in stock so it takes a bit more.

They are building me a 24 x 4 x 4 benchtop 4 sided strop. It's been about 2 weeks.

They are a small shop and make many things to order or in small batches. I'm sure they are swamped with Blade orders too. I think most of their business is for sheaths for small to medium sized knife makers. Give Spen a call and Brian/Bushcraft recommended his strops to you. I also have a YouTube video featuring JRE strops and sharpening Horton Knives.
