Hello everyone! Hope you're all doing well, gentlemen.
I am today. Not yesterday. The running event was really terrific. I kinda hit the bottom yesterday.

Thetret, awesome pics!

I ran my first marathon, Fug :) In the hills:

I thought I was going slow enough, but I wasn't. I depleted all my energy at around 25. km already, I underestimated the hills, high temperature and humidity (the day before it was raining heavily there). Got cramps I couldn't get rid of, couldn't breathe, got hypoglycemia and almost gave up. 1.5 km berofe the finish I felt like passing out, had to sit for a while and then crawl slowly to the finish. I was so exhausted I couldn't cough behind the finish line :o

well congratulations!
every race is different
a finish is a finish
I might have to explain to you about electrolytes
(take succeed S-Caps) to keep your fluids balanced
and prevent those cramps (caused by lack of salt)

anyway
you finished
Congrats Mang!

Thanks guys :)
Finishing on willpower describes it pretty well, Chibbi - it was a bit unpleasant :D But a great motivation and experience for the next time.
Fug, I'd been using complex salt tablets made especially for endurance sportsmen a few days before the race (the contents looks similar to the S!Caps) and took 2 ampules of liquid salt (esp. high in magnesium) with me to the race - the leaflet for it says 1 ampule per day is maximum - I used up both :D It didn't help anyway. Also sucked some carbogel to refuel the energy, didn't help either, it just made my stomach ache. I think it was the hot and very humid weather, other experienced runners said they know it, you get cramps because of the hot and no salt supplement can help you.
I don't know. There was also a 85-km ultra-run starting 3 hrs before the marathon, joining the marathon track then. I'd heard the ultra winner (6.5 hrs) saying that the best thing to avoid cramps and energy loss during the race is to train more :D I'll try to stick to this advice, too :)

I take 1 s-cap pill every hour when its warm out
more if its really hot
gels... you need to eat 120 calories an hour from the start
(1 powergel,karboom,hammergel etc every hour)
or you wont have enough energy after 20 miles.
training is the key,but without fuel, even a Škoda will stop running.

LOL! Škoda's stop running even when fully fueled :D But just sometimes, to be honest :D
Taking your advice of course, Fug. Thanks! I'll just have to find some supplements that won't turn my stomach upside down after 2 hours.

On a more knife related topic: I did have the CPM 3V black coated Necker with me. I hunted and killed a tube of carbogel with it  :D
