Alright. Now I really am depressed!

The man who runs our Directorate, who has provided passion and energy and guidance for several years now -- is going into the Retirement program on 1 August 2011. I fear this means the cancer is beating him and he hasn't long to live.

This is unbearably sad. Most people will never, ever know what this man has done for America. He has ground himself down pushing hard and mostly successfully. At least he can go out with his head held high.

And as for our unit ... it's too soon to tell.

OldPhysics, I can hardly imagine what you experience at the moment, although I try... I'm sending positive vibes, hope it helps quick.
I heard someone in our company saying that the all the good guys are leaving. It was kinda nice to understand that I'm one of the good guys, but I was shocked to learn who else is quitting, too. Had a good day today, though. Probably 'cause I wasn't in the office.

Thank you, Filip.

Many fine people are leaving government service these days. The politics and the new focus on the deficit are really making people lose heart.

That, and the rather obvious fact that the civilian retirement system is about to get severely 'dinged' in the name of deficit reduction. The professional who stays just a moment too long will find him/herself with significantly less money in retirement.

There's been a lot of loose talk about the relative value of federal civilians. I've worked with them, usually very closely, for 38 years now -- and I can assure you that they are genuine professionals. Many perform far above their pay-grade. It hurts me to see them treated this way.

Different countries, similar problems in general. Good luck, Sir. We all gotta pull through.

I'm still waiting for the knife Pauli sent me. The new deficit-focus-based import law and the related customs process makes me pay for it not being made here, and delays the delivery for one month already, not being any close to an end

Thanks J and Carto. The guy sellin the Spyderco, says he sliced his finger open with it as well. 2 stitches to fix,,,

And I trust that we all will ... pull through.

Be sure to let us know when the knife arrives! Pics always welcome.

Regards to you all.

DATA: White Castle paper bags should be rated for 300 meters (328.083 yards) or less of foot travel in the pouring rain at 11 degrees Celcius (52 F).

Any of you guys mess with a Spyderco Ronin? Any good?

I have two of them, one used one new in the box.
They are nasty pointy mofos, fast deployment if you know how to carry them and perfect for self defense and concealed carry.
That knife was design in a snody Michael Janich colab.

There are some rare customs out there, expensive as hell.

Hope that helps.

You bet. I'll be so friggin' happy when I finally get it that there's no way I wouldn't brag about it :D My first fullfat, fullsized Horton

It's funny that now, when my income shrinks, the itching for new knives gets worse, much worse. But there are offers on BFC I just cannot pass :o In the recent past, I've owned several knives, but with a grain of salt, I was able to justify the possesion of any of them. Not anymore now. And it just gets worse. I'm even thinking of getting a Pelican case to store the knives in it

The Ronins are savage beasts! Look really like seriously mean weapons.

I just about crapped my pants. My high pressure ac hose just blew going down the road. I thought my engine blew. No big deal. My ac wasn't working anyway. I may have found the weak point. Lol

I haven't got AC since I rear-ended a Tucson in 2005 lol....

Smashed entire front end - no rad - got in started and drove home to rebuild.....
