Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Many of these knives I wouldn't call ugly. This topic doesn't seem to be consistent with the spirit of the forum. I could make a quick quip about merging this topic with the rough rider topicbut not all of those are ugly (maybe just most of them j/k
) and there are lot of folks that like those knives. My own interests seem to have a minor representation. Some of the old knives that I prize would be ugly junk to many others. Some would prefer to buff out the old knives to make them shiny. Then they'd be ugly to me. One look at Ebay clearly shows that most people don't agree with me. And new knives seem to have more and more embellishment and fanciful handles. For me, the more traditional appearance is preferred. Knives are tools but I think that practical utility and tradition can be much more appealing than fancy embellishment.
Anyhoo... I'll play along. This knife is a very nice tool and would take care of a lifetime of cutting needs but it's by no means a looker. The lock release looks like 1970s style electronic switch... and it's proudly displayed on the mark side of the knife.

Jake, that knife is just awesome! How does the lock work?!
To cover your previous point, I don't see why this thread is un-Porch-like. This is a celebration of traditional knives! One of the greatest things about traditional knives is their long history has brought them through thousands of iterations and styles. Some of which could be called timeless and classic, others not so much. We see pictures of beautiful knives so often that we overlook the humbler, plainer or in the case of that 25, less fortunate knives. I wanted to make this thread in the spirit of recognizing these knives and yes, occasionally having a laugh.
So, if someone sees a knife that they like the looks of in this thread, then yes someone out there in the internet must not share your tastes. I'm sorry. I've seen quite a few knives in here that I think are knockouts (e.g. Tsar's Dixon X-TRA Barlow). Would we have seen these without this thread? I probably wouldn't have and that'd be a shame because I want to see all the knives, not just the pretty ones.
