Clueless & need some advice!

Kershaw Leek with the DLC coated blade is a great knife for the money.

I also second BigFattyT on a traditional folder. GEC makes wonderful knives, true heirloom pieces, and honestly, Case makes great knives too. Don't count out a knife because it isn't black and tacticool.

LOL, yes, what's up with that Tenacious curse?! It's cut me more than any other knife I've owned!

Surprised nobody mentioned Izula, Becker necker or the eskabar yet, but the blade length might be a bit too big.

Seemed like the OP was looking for folders. If fixed blades enter into the equation, then there are a lot of other options.

Heck, if fixed blades are on the table, your husband is welcome to pop over to my shop and make one for himself, if he's interested in such things.

If you decided to spend closer to $100 the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 is one of the most popular and best value for your dollar knives out there.

It's made right there in Golden Colorado. It's available in black or digi-camo and with or without a DLC black coated blade.

If I was going to go back in time and not be a knife nut and just pick one folding knife to use and carry every day it would be a Para-2.

Id suggest the Kershaw Blur. Can get it all black, or with a green or tan handles. Very good knife.

I like the green one personally
