Co-worker insists that BudK knives are awesome.

When I deal with idiots or the like, I just think to myself "he don't even know, that he don't know". Helps me cope when you're talking to someone and you can tell that their brain won't even try to wrap their head around what your saying!

If he is a good friend, gift him a decent knife. That aughta teach him. ;)

He'll waste the knife. Lack of appreciation of quality items won't change until he puts out cash for it. Tried that with my step father. He gave it back, and told me how great his Frost Cutlery blades were. He wanted to give me one. I politely declined. But then, he's a compete moron, so......

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool, shun him;
He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child, teach him.
He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep, wake him.
He who knows, and knows that he knows, is wise, follow him.

my advice, just keep talking about sharp and pointy with him, you may never get him outta his ways but he likes what he likes and if you push high dollar at him too hard he may resent it. At least he likes blades and stuff, its a start... maybe he'll come around
and like bastid said, if ya can slide him a little something, that might do the trick:D knives are like chips or puppies or something...
I learned a long time ago to not get uppity about what people choose to carry, i may think it sucks and in some cases know that it sucks but to each his own

Honestly, people who don't know, either just don't care nor want to get a better quality knife, or they don't want to admit they were wrong about their beloved knives.
Some are open to check out other knives and realize yeah they were wrong and they like the quality of these new found knives.
Either leave it alone or gift him something better. He may see the quality and appreciate it, or he may still not get or want to get it, so if you go that far and he still doesn't understand or care, it's time to move on and give up.

Who cares if he says his $10 knife is as good as your $300 knife? You're getting angry for no reason.
He doesn't get it, oh well, 98% of people don't, us that are into knives, make up that small 2%.
You know better, and that in itself is enough to let you just roll your eyes and move on with your nice $300 knife. :D

Haha. That just happens to be my co workers exact EDC knife. He calls it his "motorcycle knife". The first time he mentioned it I thought it was going to be some big motorcycle gang knife... then he pulled it out. Well, all I can say is that I was a bit disappointed.

I don't want to bash my co-worker since he's really a nice guy but I suppose he just isn't the type of person that appreciates the finer things. I guess I shouldn't be offended by his remarks but geez, he really has no clue about blade quality. I'll just continue to let him be oblivious to the truth.

Well if one day he really pisses you off you can snap these things like a twig, did it once to prove a point to a guy who was trying to sell me one saying it was better then the ZT I was carrying... Long story short; that day I walked away with a new spyderco sage in my pocket, 3 fillet finger, and a broken man crying over a broken knife in the middle of a knife show haha. Sad but true story

I think that he probably can appreciate the finer things. If I were to hazard a guess, it's more like he's the kind of person who doesn't want to admit that he's wrong. ;)
