Has anyone tried coating the interior of their oven with ITC-100? Just wondering if it would make a difference in how long it takes the oven come up to temp.

Thanks,
Lon

I read on some pottery forums that it was done, elements and all. I got the impression that the coating was done mostly to protect the elements as well as get a little gain from the ITC.

A good friend cautioned me about doing it for two reasons 1.) your thermocouple could read reflective heat off of the ITC and not get an accurate reading (especially in a small oven) and 2.) the soft bricks may have more trouble heating up and holding an even temp.

Just food for thought, neither of us was sure there was a definite benefit or loss, just an exchange of information. If I were going to do anything, I'd probably be tempted to coat only the elements in an attempt to preserve them a bit.
