Coating problem

I'm presently in the process of trying different coating finishes for my knives, I've just recieved some samples of gun kote, I'm a little surprised that they scratch so easily ...I have a cheap cameo Smith & Wesson and it has a far superior finish to the gun kote being very difficult to scratch. I'm a little surprised as Sebenezas use Gun Kote and I assumed that it would provide a very hard finish.

Does anybody know of a very scratch resistant coating??

Thanks

This is a hard use coating as far as I have seen. If it is scratching off as easy as you say, than I expect a problem with the coating process. Did you do the coating yourself? My understanding is that coatings can be kind of temperamental in that you have to be careful how you prep the surface. Sometimes an undercoating is necessary. Even If you did not do it yourself, blast the coating off and have someone else try it.
