The kamis have started pounding steel and the Cobalt Special. How long it will take them I don't know at this point but at least they did not forget the assignment.

They had only one question, "Where are the screws?"

Uncle Bill

You should have said;"Didn't you get them? I sent them over 3 weeks ago".

Cobalt, I'm afraid to say that. They may start making their own rivets and that we don't want.

Uncle Bill

Bill,

Oh geez, I'm getting excited to get one again!

I can't wait! Instead of the sound of metal being forged, I want to hear the sound of mighty oaks meeting their demise when I get this monster in my hands.

Take care,
John Johnson

Cliff is getting one and I'm very eager to see how the Bowie, about same length and weight of the 15"AK, compares in performance. I think the Bowie will be stronger -- not that it needs to be -- but I don't think it will perform most tasks as well as the AK but we'll have to wait and see.

Uncle Bill

Bill, I agree that it will be very interesting to see the difference in the performance curve of the two over a broad range of uses. In regards to

I think the Bowie will be stronger

The winner in regards to that aspect will be fairly difficult to determine.

Cliff, the only way I know to determine which would be stronger is a lateral strength test taken to the limit of each knife. You would have to put a pipe on the knives with a scale and measure the torque required to bend each blade. It will take a six or eight foot length of pipe to get the job done on the Bowie and AKs based on past experience and for practical purposes this may be an exercise in futility. If it takes a six foot pipe as a lever to bend a knife why bother? It is as strong as it needs to be.

Uncle Bill

You can never be too rich, too lucky, or too good looking, and your knife can never be too strong.

Burke, I agree in full but it seems life has dealt me a bad hand. I am poor, lose at the casinos, am old and ugly, and if I had to make the knives myself they would do well to open an envelope.
