The talented Parisian sculptor, Jean-Marc LaRoche, is well known in the Paris Modern Art world. He has had his works shown in several museums in Paris and New York. He sculpts objects like the human body, life-sized, all in stainless steel with machined innards. Very now stuff, selling for huge sums of money. In earlier life, he produced very exotic and sometimes erotic art knives of great splendor. Arabs were the primary buyers for most of his knives, so one seldom sees his works around in the USA. He stopped making knives at a time when they were actually in great demand, around nine or ten years ago.
The "Cobra" has a handle cast in bronze with very thick silver overlay, with eyes of hematite. Blade material (stainless Damascus) is from Friedrich Schneider, often credited as one of the very first pioneers of stainless Damascus. Overall length is 11" with 6 1/2" blade. Perfect balance when held with the fingers at the "neck". Looks kinda cumbersome, but feels perfect once two or three fingers "under" the handle. Oh, if you think this piece is really cool,but don't think it will seem as cool once you get it, you'll be pleasantly surprised - it really is better than the images. The cobra's scales are, in fact, as three dimensional as they appear to be in the images.

This continues the process of selling my damascus pieces - I have a short attention span when it comes to anything damascus, even this beauty. I easily fall out of love for anything damascus, same problem with folders. I am simply not the lover of damascus that so many others are.
