Here's a look at the BK2 I've been working on. First Becker and first real attempt at making a handle. Cocobolo with brass pins and liners.

I'm a little disappointed with the thin white lines you can see along the seams; I couldn't find suitable epoxy so I just used white marine epoxy and it's been giving me troubles. I definitely regret that.
I'm also in the process of making my first ever leather sheath for it, but I don't have much to show on that yet.

How do you like it? Sorry for the crap cell phone pictures.

Your first attempt you say?
Those look fantastic!
The brass liners set it off.
Nice work man, very nice!

Good move on the brass liners. When it comes to the visual acuity of a knife I'm always surprised at how much the hardware has a hold on the observer. It's an important part and matching it up on a custom job always seems to make the project sing.

I like it.what kind of sheath you making?A classic looking handle like that would look good in a pouch sheath without all the pouches and buckles and straps that tend to make some sheaths look like something used in conjunction with ball gags and riding crops.

Looks great, outstanding for a 'beginner'. Definitely does not look like a beginner's work.

Brass liners? I don't think I've ever seen that on a Becker. Outstanding!!!!
I really like the scales too. Cocobolo is an old standard for a good reason. I can't remember ever seeing Cocobolo scales that didn't look good or great.
First post? Man I wish my first post was this sweet.

Thanks for sharing & welcome to the addiction, I mean forum. :D

RE: I'm a little disappointed with the thin white lines you can see along the seams;

You mean the thin white liners that you fitted

If the knife has a slight bevel or chamfer you will see the glue line if you ground it back a bit more it should go away.

You've done a beautiful job on this, and I think the white helps to contrast with the brass and the wood and just makes it look like there are a couple of other layers in there. The overall effect is that it really is a beautiful knife. Well done sir, well done.

What DerekH said about the contrast..and I think you also did a great job !

If you don't like the white, get a little ink or colored die or something and mix it into the epoxy, and you can get a different color that may suit your tastes better. Nice work!

What size pins do you need to do this on a BK2? Can they bought easily? I'd love to put a permanent handle on mine.

3/16ths are fine, not a perfect fit but readily avalible at any knife making shop. I'm sure with the amount of things you guys have in the states you could even pick up a length at a hardware shop.

yeah I used some 3/16 brass rod stock I grabbed from Home Depot.

As for the sheath style, I don't really know.. I'm just kind of making it up as I go. It's not a pouch sheath but it also won't be overly complicated. Pretty much just leather folded over at the spine of the knife and sewn on the edge side, with a retention strap and belt loop. I think...
