Cocobolo BK2

Looks great. I just ordered some stabilized walnut off of evilbay and hope my BK2 ends up looking half that good.

Here's a little update. I am almost done with the first sheath. It's my first leather sheath (pressed a couple kydex sheaths in the past), and it has really been a pain to make! I totally screwed up the design and have to figure out a way to stabilize the belt loop. It's attached too low and it basically has the same problem as the stock Kabar sheath. Anyway, here are the (crappy again -- sorry) pictures:

As you can see I still have to finish the edges, and I need a rivet or chicago screw or something on the corner of the seam near the choil area.
Should I have made a new thread or is it fine to post updates in this one?

That's one sweet looking Bk2....Very difficult to beleive you are a beginner, with that kind of finishing on the leather sheath. This is a pro job.

Best
Moin.

I'm a little disappointed with the thin white lines you can see along the seams; I couldn't find suitable epoxy so I just used white marine epoxy and it's been giving me troubles. I definitely regret that.
I'm also in the process of making my first ever leather sheath for it, but I don't have much to show on that yet.

How do you like it? Sorry for the crap cell phone pictures.

If the disappointment becomes too great : ) feel free to send it to me, I will give it a good home.
Seriously, that's a very minor detail, the kind of thing only the craftsman sees. Beautiful work!

knife and sheath look great!

about the epoxy lines: i think someone already said it but if you keep sanding until all the edges of the scales and metal are flush it will go away. i would imagine marine epoxy would be pretty expensive. on the knives i make i use the two part syringe epoxy just buy the 30 minute stuff
and your sheath is real nice! design will improve on the next sheath. super impressed with the straightness of your stitches! how did you poke your holes? you may want to look into a "stitch groover" its a little tool that cuts a little groove for your stitches to lay in instead of sticking up so they can get snagged or cut. i got mine for lke 10$ from the leather guy on ebay.

Thanks guys. I did gouge a stitch line, just not deep enough I guess. I set the spacing of the holes with an overstitch wheel and then drilled them. I'm almost done with the edges, so I should have one last update coming soon.

Here it is basically finished. I still need a brass chicago screw or eyelet near the choil area there where the stitches end. I fastened a bit of shock cord (cut up my girlfriend's hair tie for the time being) to the buckle for a bit of extra retention if I'm hiking with it or something.

Seeing it all together, I'm really quite happy with it.
