My best work so far....
Blade: 8 inches of 5160 from Admiral steel, just under 1 3/4 inches tall, .210 thick, satin machine finish
Handle: Frame style, 5 inches of cocobolo, coffin shape with S.S. pin work
Heat treat: done in shop with an Even heat oven and quenching oil
Guard; hand fitted O-1 tool steel
Sheath: 9-10 oz leather, hand tooled and treat with warm neatsfoot oil dip.

275.00 sheath included! PM for a shipping quote.....

Thanks for looking!
Mark

Did you drill out any holes in the the tang other than for the pins? Where does it balance?

Beautiful work.

I can't find anything to complain about (well, a longer blade would be nice), this is very, very nice!

I assume the tang is two parts to allow the fitment of the guard?

The blade is a hidden tang style knife. The pins are drilled through a frame and hold the scales and frame together. The guard is placed on the hidden tang, then the frame and scales are placed over the hidden tang.
The balance point is at the point where the scales touch the back of the guard....

Pit, I took this knife to Ray's and he told me he did not recognize it as my work. He said it was like looking at a different knifemaker's work. It is hard for me to see my improvement's cause I have a certain Mastersmith ( lol ) breathing down my neck, but everyone that sees my recent work says it has improved... so, Thanks!

I got to handle this knife. I think it's Mark's best work yet. The knife really looks great and feels great. I know someone will be happy to own it:thumbup:

If you have Ray Laconico's thumbs-up you know it's good 'cause Ray's a robot who churns out perfection ;)
Nice work!
