Cocobolo scales on my BK2

I like the look, and how you contoured them. Some of my Barkies are that way, really allows for a locked-in grip.
I have a cocobolo bow staff, man that thing is heavy. Can you feel a weight difference from say, micarta?
How well does it fit in the original sheath?

I don't have the micarta scales to compare, would like to get some someday. Actually, a little bit into working on this I was about ready to give up and I was going to get the micartas. By that point though I had already dumped some $$ on materials, so I didn't want to get in any further potential trouble with the wife.

It fits the sheath great. What I noticed was that before the final sanding, when putting the knife in the sheath, wherever it was really really tight it would smooth out the wood and make noticeable "spots". So it made it somewhat easier to shape down those spots to get a good fit. I would say it's nearly the same fit as the Grivory handles now.

wow! i've got some cocobolo and that makes me really want to make some scales for my 2

Hey Lost - time to invest in a leather sheath from Moose - will match perfectly with the scales, and look great, not to mention functional. Then, when the wife complains, I will show up(I don't live but 1.5 hrs from Chattanooga), take the knife off your hands, and the wife will be happy. You can always come visit your ex-knife anytime you want.;) Those scales are first-rate!

Haha, thanks! The leather sure looks good. I need to slow down on the purchases for a few weeks, but that will certainly be something else I can pass down to my son (along with the BK-2) and I can enjoy until then :D

The only written phrase that can come close to describing those handles is 'the epitome of a true artisan.' Does anyone sell stuff like that ready-to-buy? I have neither the tools, know-how nor artistry to pull something that classy off in 2 lifetimes.

Are you kidding me? Those are stunning. You don't actually use that masterpiece. That goes in a glass display case right? You have a stunt double to actually use. Wow. Great work.

Those are super sweet aren't they..??

good job !!! I was going to ask how you got the hex but you answered for me.. nice detail... well done man........
