What tools do you use to fashion the scales? power scroll saw maybe? would like to give it a try myself someday. ;)

I don't have a scroll-saw or band saw yet, so I profile differently.

I cut out the blanks on the tablesaw. I use a drill press to drill the holes, countersinks, and to mill out the torsion-bar recess. It's actually possible to use a router bit on the drill press, just crank the speed up to ridiculous; a very solid drill press is your friend here.

I then rough out the profile on a cheap 4x36 belt sander. I finish profiling on an ocillating spindle sander (my fist attempt was profiled by hand with sandpaper). Sculpting is roughed out on the sanders and finished by hand.

Total list of tools:

Tablesaw
Drill press (various bits)
4x36 belt sander
Spindle sander
Lots of sandpaper
Small hand-chisel

Send me an email if you have any other questions.

I don't have any plans for any new folder modification, aside from simple regrinds. At the moment I'm working on some new kitchen knives. I'm making a set of five with fiddleback teak and blackwood handles. And I'm also making a large CPM 3V veggie cleaver as soon as the steel comes in. Should be really nice.
