Important Info! Codger_64 Passed away 3/3/2025

May his knives always stay sharp and a folder be in his pocket forever.. RIP

Darnit! That really sucks. We used to tie up on a regular back when I spent too much time in the PA. That doesn't mean he wasn't A nice guy and a class act, because he was both. I hate that he's gone.😟

Rest in peace Codger, thanks for all the knowledge passed on. Condolences David and all of his family and friends.

Michael was one of my best friends here. He reached out to me several times from the hospital recently. He knew he was passing and told me that he was ready to go. That makes me feel somewhat better but he is sorely missed.
Yesterday I saw this near one of my deliveries and it made me think he was certainly nearby.

You have my Condolences.
He was one of the good souls in the BFC community.
He will be missed.
RIP Codger64

We had some good times in the early days of the Schrade subforum here on BF. Michael was a fountain of knowledge regarding the Schrade brand, specifically fixed blades, and was always to the go-to guy for information. He will be missed for sure...

RIP Codger. One of the truly great contributors to BF. My condolences to friends and family. 🙏

He was a cool and knowledgeable cat.... :(
Hooked me up with some cool Old Timer fixed blades...

This is terrible news, I'm very sorry to hear this. RIP Michael.

I just now became aware of Codger’s and QuietMike’s passing. I crossed swords with both over the years but enjoyed sparring with them. My condolences to families.

I just now saw this. I bought a vintage Schrade knife in a flea market a few years ago that was the exact same model I bought in 1979 and then snapped the blade on a few months later. I started looking on the interweb to see what I could discover about it and that's where I landed on BF (and a couple other forums). It took a while to work up the nerve to post because I was a total newbie and I was afraid of the reactions I would get. Codger respectfully and courteously answered my question and my follow-up questions. He was my 1st contact on any knife forum. Codger made me realize (mostly) everybody here puts their britches on the same way! Well, Codger and a post by Killgar entitled "We were all new here once."

Rest in Peace Codger. I salute you.

Condolences to his family & friends.

My 1st fixed blade as a kid was a Schrade Sharpfinger & I went through a few Schrade stockmans. He was a treasure trove of Schrade info & I valued his posts - especially some humorous anecdotes he shared about the Sharpfinger

Till we form again
