Coffee

Hey,

Try PT's Coffee on the internet. I think the link is PT's Coffee. com. Best coffee i have ever tried in my life

Yeah, I had to look that up. Couldn't figure out what the "honey" process was, lmao. :p And then to call dry processed "natural" just doesn't make any sense. Trying to confuse people? Why didn't they just list it as wet, natural (or pulped), dry process like everyone else??? Gotta make it sound fancy? Whatever.

Here's a few more. Dry process is also called natural or unwashed. It's most commonly known as natural as this was the original way of processing coffee. The "natural" way. With honeys there are several different kinds of honey: black, red, yellow and white. The color reflects how long the mucilage (the coffee fruit pulp) has been left on. Honey can also be called semi-washed, semi-dry and also pulped-natural. Even with washed coffee, there is fully washed, washed, wet process and wet hulled.

There are slight differences between them but most only have different names due to regulation at origin. For example washed coffees from Indonesia are wet-hulled. It is slightly different to regular washed coffee from say, Colombia or Kenya, but is still technically a washed coffee.

We haven't even started on varietals yet! This is the easy part!

Thanks for the detailed information. I am ready for the next class on varietals!

Good morning folks! Happy "National Coffee Day"! I'd better get a pot going... :) Also, FYI, Thursday, Oct. 1 is the first annual "International Coffee Day" as deemed by the ICO.

I've been roasting my own coffee for a bit over 12 years now. The term "honey" as it relates to processing is new on me. Maybe the places I buy my green coffees just don't use it? Heck, I don't recall seeing that term used on Coffeegeek, Home-Barista, or Homeroasters either. I've heard everything else you mentioned though.

Fall is definitely in the air here this morning! Another Costa Rica home roast. I'm going to try to pull a SO shot of this later today.

Costa Rica Helsar SO (Macho Arce) shot. LOTS of crema! So much so I had to stop the shot a few seconds early. Body was a little on the thin side. Astringent. Blackberry and cocoa. Too soon after roasting to use for espresso (lots of CO2, hence the massive crema). Need to wait another day or two.

Original Böker Speedsafe automatic. I bought it at a Böker factory store in Berlin when I was there in April of 2002. Only €30 because the very tip was chipped. That was only ~$25 at the time. :D  Bought it mostly as a novelty, but I still enjoy it. The true automatic versions like this one are rarer than I thought they'd be here in the US.

I just got into Kansas City this evening. I found this place, cross fingers I haven't had a tasting yet.

The house blend is nice. It has a wonderfully earthy note of cherries and dirt. Lol, I know that might not sound appetizing but it's a nice blend can't wait to get back home to try the single origin!

Hey, that's a St. Louis roaster. Kaldi is great.

Kaldi has a good reputation, but haven't tried them myself.

Made a capp for wifey this afternoon. Quick and dirty pic, but the poured latte art turned out decent. :p

Who makes the squeak for Spyderco?

I'm not sure but the Lionspy('s) Pingo, Squeak, Roadie, PITS, SpyDK, Urban, are current models made in Italy. The Hossom line was made there as well and maybe a few others??
From experience it's difficult getting specific manufacturing details out of Spyderco, with good reason.

I was right! The Spyderco Gods have shown me the way!! A custom black muted Multi cam/DLC Military with a deep carry titanium clip and standoffs....and Death Wish! Does it get any better!!!!!! Thanks Wayne! :D
