coghlan's fire starter sticks - anyone use?

I have used them for years and always carry some with me, especially during the late fall/winter.

Work really nice for the guys who carry a mag. block as well. Just rough it up a bit to raise some fibers and dust, scrape a few shavings in with it. and hit it with the sparks.

Never tried it yet with the firesteel alone, maybe tomorrow I'll give it a shot. :D

Yes, because I handled one before. And yes, $3 may seem like little, but if I save on the things I am not sure of that I usually buy it adds up to quite a bit in a week. (In say, 2 months when there is no more snow, I will buy stuff I don't need, because I will be able to work everyday. Ever since the new boss took over, the shop is closed in the winter if it is too cold for him or snowing.)

I rather have $3 than something that I may not like. The machete I knew I would like - I don't need it, but I will like it, and it didn't set me back much more. ($7, shared the cost with my brother)

Anyway, didn't mean to de-rail the topic.

I always pack those things in my Camelbak Mule. All of the wally worlds here in South Texas stock them regularly for about $2.00, great deal if you ask me. I've always started them up by feathering the sticks and then using a firesteel to get them going.
