I had a lot of leather work done by John M. Cohea over the last couple months and I am really pleased with it. I asked John how much I owed him and he said he'd much rather have a knife or a hawk that I'd made for payment. Since cash is pretty tight I went along with his suggestion. After he mentioned forge finish I went to town. Here's the result. 13 1/4" blade forged from a new leaf spring, ebony handle, iron wagon wheel guard, spacer and butt cap from wrought iron wagon wheel. 19 3/8" overall. Another one of those design as I go projects. :D

Wow, Ray, that's really cool. But, what about the sheath? ;) :D

I have an old wagon wheel rotting in the back yard. Now I know what to do with it!

Very nice. John will be very happy I'm sure.

Perhaps if you have time you might post some pics of his Sheathwork for your knives..? But I bet they are all gone to new homes...

I'm just blown away by how good you are at forging, Ray.

Ray the sheaths do look great with your knives and the knife you made for John is Outstanding.

Ray and John some great work for sure

It is great when good people can work together

Hey Big Boy,

That good lookin' rascal could easily show up in some type of history movie. I am still in awe on how close you can forge.

Great job..........

Robert, As you know the forging to shape is the main thing that keeps me in this business. There's still room for improvement on that big blade. It was a fun project. John's sure excited about it and I really do enjoy that. :D

That's another awesome piece Ray! John, I'm jealous, but VERY happy for you. I think you made a wise choice to barter for one of Ray's great knives. And you've obviously helped him out with the nice sheathwork.

Congrats to both of you :)

Thanks Eli. I'm thrilled with this piece for sure. I hope the sheaths are well received by Ray's buyer's . I want to continue working with Ray, at least till I work off a Bowie and a Hawk;)!
