Hey everyone. i've been messing with this cold blue/bleach finish on some O1 it's coming out pretty sweet right now but seems to be a little uneven from one side of the blade to the other.

any way to even this out or just general tips on how to do it?

i've been wiping the cold blue on, leaving it wet and soeaking it in a container of bleach.
i have some nice big deep pits on one side but the other seems to have a little of the big pitting and mostly some fine little tiny pitting

should i just apply the cold blue to one side untill it catches up in character?

thanks in advance guys. this one is coming out sweet i can't wait to put some handles on it and post it!:)

I do this on most of my hawks. I did have a little problem with the same thing till I started suspending them in the bleach instead of laying them on the side. I also started letting the blueing dry and kinda haze over. I don't rinse before the bleach. I have also noticed that the way I put the blueing on makes a difference. If I dab it on or wipe in strokes seems to make some difference. If I overlap the strokes a bit it seems to etch in those places more. even blueing seems to help more than anything whether wiping or dabbing. Getting it clean and free on oil or finger prints before blueing also seems to make some diffrence in the bleach etch. I hope all this helps some.

seems like getting it good and clean and all the oxidation scrubbed off with steel wool before applying the next coat is the way to do it.

then to apply the next coat i rubbed the cold blue in with some steel wool

seems to darken up quicker this way and nice and even... i was able to control where i wanted the steel to rust... well atleast so far.

i'm just trying to even up some areas right now... seems to work nice

man i'm dying to finish this one!
