This is made from a cold chisel, which I'm assuming from the spark pattern is a decent tool steel. I have not done any HT yet. I was very careful not to overheat during grinding so my question is, and this may sound incredibly stupid, but do you think I could just leave it with the cold chisel temper or is that too soft? Not that all cold chisels are tempered the same but I made one in a blacksmithing class and it was plenty hard enough to hot carve wrought iron, so I was thinking for a small utility blade the current temper may suffice. thanks.

A quick google suggests cold chisels are hardened to 53 - 59 RC. The lower end of that is on the soft side but will still function as a knife. Obviously using it is the ultimate say on the matter.

Looks cool!

That is good looking. I say use it the way that it is. If you find that it is too soft, regrind it and ht. You have nothing to lose using it as is.
