Cold Steel’s cheap knives are actually pretty dang good

Bite your tongue ! ;)

Kraton handles will provide a secure grip under conditions that will make most "more expensive " handle materials slippery as snot .

Also provides a bit of thermal and vibration shock insulation .
indeed dear sir,
kraton was made
entirely cheap
and exceptionally tacky.
thus i must agree that
whilst it gives
great grippy pleasure
in wildly wet hands,
my main contention is that
even the worst grade of grivory
would not suddenly deteriorate into sticky goo at some point in time for the want of
pure rigid firmness
at the time of desired need.

Very poetically said! I’ve never had any problems with Cold Steel’s synthetic materials. It’ll probably take several decades (way past our lifetimes) before the stuff breaks down. That, or if you accidentally leave the SRK in oven or something.

I looked up does Stainless Steel Rust. The reply was simple. He said yes cheap stainless steel does rust. Look around, there is stainless everywhrere from top to bottom on buildings to a place to lock tour bike up . All stainless no rust. They would not put it on building if it would rust.

I know this happens , but hasn't happened to me !

Even my old CarbonV SRK and Recon Tanto are both still fine .

Maybe a bit dirty and a little scratched and worn , but not in the least gooey .:thumbsup:

Depends on application vs cost, look it up, I mean really look it up on several good sites. Substittute stainless for rust......less.

I wouldn't buy a knife made from 4034 unless it was $20 or less...maybe not even then.

If CS wanted to make a more affordable version of otherwise expensive knives that still perform well, they should have used AUS10.

I don't really see anyone buying a 4034 Trailmaster.

I suspect that the goal is to sell them to people who know the Cold Steel and Trailmaster names, but don't know anything beyond that. In my opinion it is shameful.

It will drive the secondary vintage market up for those that want the better quality, kind of a lose/lose situation for some. A story I have seen over and over through the years. It is what it is, I am just thankful for the good years of LT's Reign. Not writing them off completely(yet)but the innovation of the old CS is gone with LT. Hope I am wrong though.
