Does anybody know when we are going to see this knife in stores/online?
Do you all think that there will be a pre-order period?
Anybody else excited about these?

I'll be getting at least one of them & possibly more. FFG & the Tri-ad lock make for a winner. Some miss the more neutral handles but I'm liking what I see with the new lines myself. Having handled the new AK-47 & Recon 1 I'm gonna guess these will feel similarly good in the hand.

I really hate not being able to get a satin finished Voyager or Vaquero anymore, though. That decision kinda' threw me. I'll have to spend money having it done instead of paying Cold Steel to do it in the 1st place. Otherwise I like their 2011 lineup.

I have an old medium one that I love. I am definately excited. The new lines are awesome and I have a soft white underbelly for full flat grind blades heh heh. Did someone say they are G10 instead of zytel?

No, the handles are a newer plastic material called Grivory, with aluminum liners and screw-together construction. The Recon 1 series have a G10 handle.

They should be available by late April or May.

The blades are made in Japan and shipped to Taiwan for final assembly.

I was checking out a centrally located internet knife store and they have them listed for pre-order. The prices are amazingly low (I have not shopped around) Considering how inexpensive they are I'm considering picking up an XL version just for kicks.

Dunno how "new" this is btw .. the Nightshade series have been Grivory since 2006, used on some other CS knives too.
It's also what Becker uses for the BK2,7,9, whatever..

Note that the XL is "only" 5.5" as opposed to the X2 which was 6". They've sort of split the diff between the old XL and X2 of the previous models.

Yep, I called and they told me late april to late may is the expected availability time frame.

I am pretty excited about these! Grivory + FFG + Triad = homerun

And at the price point, how could you not go for one of these!? They are priced like Taylor Cutlery's knives!

I've got 6 on preorder already

I've been happy with the grivory on my Spartan. It feels about the same as most good FRN. The new voyagers look like they have a nice grippy pattern as well, like the Spyderco volcano pattern.

Yeah, I much prefer grivory over normal frn, frn just does not feel as solid or as dense. The lightness feels cheap to me, maybe that is why i dont like many spydercos

What's the steel? If it's better than AUS8, I'll buy a few. Wave em and send em to Demko for new handles. Ti with bolsters kinda shit.

San Mai sounds good to me.
