Cold Steel 2011 Voyager

Originally they were going to be $100 + if I recall correctly.
I'm a big fan of Cold Steel AUS8 and the triad lock. I just got a Mini AK 47 earlier this week and I can get that thing so sharp it should be a sin.

At this point I think it could be any day now, or month, or year. Since Cold Steel doesn't say much publicly there is no way of knowing what's going on.

I don't mind aus 8. I think it's a good user steel the way CS does it. The triad lock rocks. Where they totally failed in my eyes is that AK-47 type handle design. I went the American Lawman and Recon 1 route and am totally happy with those. My 90's era Large Voyager with the practical handle still proves to be a comfortable user .

Aus 8 :)
Triad lock :D
goofy handles :barf:

The, as you put it "AK47" handle design is very similar to the BM AFCK and Onslaught handle designs. I think that a lot of people like them, I'm not a huge fan. Bit I think if they put an American lawman style choil on the bigger knives it would feel strange. Maybe half of the handle would be sticking out of the other end of your hand. Big knife handles need to be designed differently than small ones.
I'm a huge fan of the American Lawman btw.

I've had an XL Voyager since 96,when they first came out.I still carry it around the house in my sweat jacket pocket.I'll be ordering a new XL,for sure.

Well, hopefully they should be available by the end of June.

The 4-inch version of the Hold Out and the 3-inch version of the Counter point just became available.

It looks like the G10 Espadas are out now too.

G10 Espadas out? Link?

I want to check one out. I wish they'd make a linerless G-10 version like the one AD shows in that youtube video. Does anyone know if these new Voyagers will still be made in Japan?

No way man...they're Taiwan made...
I'm really excited about this thing...but don't really like aluminum on the handle, it add weight, and is a soft metal. I think they should change it into steel liner, or pure G10...
I heard some say that the new clip point blade look just like butter knife Lol
But to me it's like a good slicer, with a whole lot of belly on it
the tanto blade model looks fine...
BTW, does anyone notic the torx bit on the stop pine?
Is that the torx act like a stop pin? Is that anygood? I think it's weaker than normal pin...:-s

Did you graduate from high school?

I might be interested in either the 4" or 5.5" Vaquero version (plain-edge). The one thing I don't like is the aggressive handle texturing where the clip is. Some might like it, but that type of texturing under a clip tears up pocket material, and isn't really needed for grip at that spot, IMO. I'd probably end up choosing the 4" version, as it would get carried down in-pocket instead of clipped.

I agree, should just use ss liners instead of aluminum while they are at it.

About the stop pin, if it is with a torx screw (I need to see a new voyager picture) then in theory it is weaker than a solid pin. Less cross sectional area I am assuming. Assuming similar shearing capacity type material used.

Still prefer solid Vg-1 or San Mai. That is what sets it apart from the Recon 1 series.

I don't know. Who I'm I? oh I'm VIetnamese...that explains alot :P
just kidding...
graduate high school? inEnglish? not yet.
forgive me if my English sucks, I'm workin' on it everyday

yeah...In the tri-ad lock, the pin will take both negative and positive force...If it's really a screw without some steel cover on it then it sucks.

the screw will hold the pin in place, as it is done on dozens of different designs incorporating a threaded stop pin. Also keep in mind that the folding knife pivot is almost the same thing, a threaded pin held in place by a screw or two.
